Le Fer à Cheval is situated in the heart of the Lubéron, home to many of “Les Plus Beaux Villages de France” (France’s “most beautiful villages”) such as Roussillon, Ménerbes and Gordes, that are only a few minutes’ drive away, as well as the other perched villages of Bonnieux, Lacoste, Goult, and Oppède-le-Vieux.
The area offer numerous activities to please all ages and interests be it food, wine, sports, site-seeing or shopping. Provence is famed for its daily farmers’ markets offering an abundant array of fresh and locally grown produce. One can practise many sports around the property and the entire Lubéron area is a biker’s paradise. A 70 km cycling path can be accessed from the house and the more athletically capable can take on the steep climbs around the area or even attempt the Mont Ventoux. There is no shortage of sites to visit: the Marquis de Sade’s medieval castle in Lacoste, the village of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and its antique dealers, and further afield the papal city of Avignon or the roman arenas in Nîmes and Arles, just to name a few.
